1. Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, profile name, profile photo (if uploaded), phone number, and chosen language. Messages and attachments you send through BorderChat are stored so the intended recipients can read them.
2. Google sign in data
If you choose to continue with Google, Google provides BorderChat with your name, email address and profile picture. We use this information only to create your BorderChat account, authenticate you and display your identity in the app. BorderChat does not request access to your Google contacts, emails, files or calendar.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the messaging and translation service.
- To match you with contacts who already use BorderChat.
- To send push notifications for new messages.
- To improve translation quality and fix errors.
4. Translations
Messages you send may be translated before delivery. Translation processing is handled by secure third-party services. We do not share message content for advertising purposes.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account data and messages until you delete your account or ask us to remove them. You can delete individual conversations or your entire account from within the app.
6. Cookies and local storage
BorderChat uses browser local storage and cookies to keep you signed in and remember your language preference. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
7. Security
We use industry standard encryption in transit and enforce access controls at the database level. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep your devices protected.
